Install Wordpress Using Fantastico
Now we’re ready to install Wordpress using Fantastic. Log into your Cpanel like you did in the last lesson. Your hosting provider will send you information on your user name and password for logging in. You’ll probably access your Cpanel at www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. (or use the information provided by your hosting company).

Here is your Cpanel. Look for the smiley face Fantastico icon. Click on it. (your Cpanel might look slightly different).

Click where it says New Installations.

Here is where you set up your information for your Wordpress Blog.
Installation Location
Install on domain: this will most probably be yourdomain.com (mine looks different because I’m setting it up on a subdomain so you’ll be able to go to my actual workshop blog as we work through the lessons)
Install in directory: leave blank if you want your blog to be reached at the root of your website. For instance at www.judymiller.com. If you want your main site to be different than your blog, for instance at www.judymiller.com/blog then fill in blog or whatever you want to call the directory. Remember this is what people will type into their browsers to access your blog. Don’t make it too long.
Admin Access Data
Administrator-username: Fill in a name for the administrator of the blog. I suggest not using your name, and do NOT use ADMIN. That is the default name for Wordpress blogs. Pick something more secure.
Password: Type in a password. WRITE IT DOWN. Make it secure with alpha characters, numbers, and symbols.
Base Configuration
Admin nickname: will show as the user name on the blog
Admin e-mail: The email address you set up in the last lesson
Site name: This is the name of your blog. Like DandelionBlog, or Wine On the Keyboard, or Chickens in the Road.
Description: Description or tagline for your blog. This will show under the title of your blog on most themes.
E-mail account configuration:
Email account user name: from your setup in the last lesson
Email account password: from your setup in the last lesson
POP/SMTP server: yourdomain.com
POP/SMTP server port: 110
(all of these can be changed later, so don’t worry if you’re unsure of them now. They do have to be filled in though, or the install won’t work)
Click on Install Wordpress

After the install, you’ll see this page that shows your Wordpress information.
1) type in your email account so the details of the install will be sent to you. (can be any email account you use)
2)save the link for accessing your Wordpress admin panel. The login for Wordpress is at:
www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin
or www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/blog if you set your blog up in a directory called blog.
Go to that URL

Type in your admin user name and password. Click on Login.

Look, you made it! You’re at the admin screen for your Wordpress Blog. Click on View Site! Go ahead, you know you want to! Your blog is LIVE! (well, with the default theme, but we’re going to work on individualizing your blog next)
Pre Wordpress Setup:
1) Setting up a domain and hosting.
2) Download Firefox for use in Modifying your themes.
3) Get an FTP program(optional)
4) Setup Email in Cpanel
