Your Cpanel will look similar to this. Cpanel can have different “skins” so it might look different, but it should have most of the same information in it.

Prior Wordpress Setup Workshop Lessons:

Pre Wordpress Setup:

1) Setting up a domain and hosting.
2) Download Firefox for use in Modifying your themes.
3) Get an FTP program(optional)

FileZilla-A free FTP program

Okay, we’ve gotten our domain and webhosting. Now before we start to install Wordpress, let’s get set up with a free FTP program…a program that lets you transfer files from your computer to the server where you’ll have your blog.

We’re going to download FileZilla It’s simple and easy to use. Hey, it has a cool name, and it’s free. What more do you want from an FTP program?
Download Filezilla

Go here and click on the button circled in red. Save it to your computer. Unzip and install. Now you’re ready to be able to transfer files to your blog. We’ll use it later to transfer themes and plugins to your blog.

SKIP THIS NEXT STEP IF YOU’RE USING BLUEHOST OR ANOTHER HOST COMPANY THAT PROVIDES FANTASTICO

If you did as I suggested and got a web host with Fantastico, you can skip this next step. You really, REALLY want a webhost with Fantastico. But, if not, you’ll have to manually download and install Wordpress.
Wordpress Download

Go to the Wordpress site and download Wordpress.

The directions for manually installing Wordpress are here if you want to work through them now. After I finish our series on installing Wordpress and setting it up with Fantastico’s one click install, I’ll then add a post on manually installing Wordpress without Fantastico.

For those of you with a host with Fantastico, my next post will be on using Fantastico’s one click install for setting up your Wordpress Blog.
